Traditional Animation vs. The New Live Action
If you love all things Disney, then the debate between traditional animation and the new trend of live action films can be a difficult one. On one hand, it means more Disney; more of your favorite characters, more of your favorite songs, and more of your favorite childhood moments brought to life.
And then, on the other hand, there is a very serious possibility of ruining an already good thing. How do you improve upon perfection!? And should they simply remake the animated version with real people or should it be altered in some way? Do you make it more timely? Add a new song? Or will you risk alienating all the fans that fell in love with something in childhood, and desperately need it to stay the same. We can't decide! The Beauty and the Beast live action was a good start...
So, we’ve weighed the pros and we’ve weighed the cons; we’ve decided the seaweed is greener on the other side. Things can always be improved and re-invented and Disney is no exception. So, we’re excited for the new live action films because it means MORE of all the people we love. More songs, more costumes, more childhood favorites come to life. All we ask is that you don’t mess with perfection! Take the Maleficent approach and improve upon an old favorite by adding a new perspective.
Sleeping Beauty hasn’t been changed or ruined; we’re finally just seeing a more well-rounded view of the characters. The evil witch is a lot more complex than we knew, and we can’t help but love her for it.
Show us something we haven’t seen before! Why is Ursula living alone in a cave with two creepy eels as her only friends? Why is Sleepy so darn sleepy? Does he need a better mattress? Is something keeping him up at night!?
Let the new films be a way for us to learn more about our favorite characters. So, bring on the new Disney films! All we ask is… don’t mess with our songs.
Get ready for new Live Action films like Dumbo, Aladdin, and Mulan.
