Spoon! Why We’d Still Go Into Battle for The Tick
Don’t be fooled by his namesake, the superhero Tick is much more lovable than his insect counterpart. And — we promise — he doesn’t bite.
Whether you grew up reading the comic books, spent every Saturday morning glued to an episode of the cartoon series, or you just got hooked watching the live action series The Tick in 2001, the Wild Blue Yonder came into your life and you haven’t been able to shake him since. Okay, maybe he is more like a real tick than we first thought...
The newest Amazon Prime series, also named The Tick, brings all of your favorite characters like Overkill, Dot, and Midnight back to life.
The Tick, created by cartoonist and writer Ben Edlund, is still an unconventional hero — a subtle mockery and parody of our mainstream superheroes — who is always the first to make you laugh and will always have the ability to make you cheer for the weird guy in the room...
Nonetheless, the new Tick series also manages to feel like a Marvel superhero flick with its phenomenal stunts, special effects, and characters who keep you on the edge of your seat.
However, the Amazon Prime series also has a new and endearing quality that was missing from the earlier versions. Unlike many other popular superheroes, we can see a little bit of ourselves in the awkward bumbling accountant-turned-hero, Arthur.
Arthur isn’t born fighting crime and he’d probably have crunched numbers in his office all day had he not met The Tick and stumbled upon his superhero moth suit.
The new Tick series is the perfect reminder that real people — people with a simple desire to do good and be good — can save the world too.
The Tick and his reluctant sidekick, Arthur, battle evil to keep their city, known as The City, safe and — in the process — win our hearts. So, get ready for a boat that identifies as a male boat , a gun named Shakira, heroes that yell “Spoon” as they run into battle, and the most unconventional superhero show on t.v. today! Ring ring! Destiny is calling collect and it's time to accept the charges with a new Fifth Sun The Tick shirt!
